Stop Trying To Love Your Imperfections

Ladies, there’s a better path to self-love

“Wait, what?

Stop trying to love my imperfections?

I thought that was literally the whole point of self-love and this whole “body image” thing…?”

I shared this post on instagram challenging the idea that “self-love” and developing a healthy, positive body image are about learning to love yourself & your body exactly where you’re at, rolls + jiggles + dimples + all.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for that side of the equation, too, but raise your hand if that’s ever actually worked for you?

For me, it feels more like a forced effort of looking in the mirror at my thunder thighs or cellulite-y rear, while the little voice inside my head says, “I love my legs, I love my butt, I love my cellulite” through clenched jaw and gritted teeth.

That doesn’t feel like/sound like/look like love at all to me.

It feels like/sounds like/looks like faking it.
